Ok, so I need to get a laptop but I can't really afford one. Basically my requirement of said laptop is this. It has to do at least what my desktop does. The desktop in question being a P4 3.2 ghz running at 800mhz with a gig of ram and a 128mb radeon graphics card. I will be using the machine more for audio mixing/mastering than anything video intensive so this is less of a concern.

So, any suggestions for a laptop under $1000?

I would suggest getting an HP or something thats made already rather than a dell cause since these are mass produced the prices are lower. You can actually find some that are pretty descent for under a grand.
