my video cards fan will speed up and shut my comp down.what is going on,please help ,i am playing bf2,cod4 or any thing like that and it will start to speed up and juest shut my comp down.i am thinking it is a psu issue to the comp,but i am not sure,any help is welcome,i am running a intel quad core 2.4 ghz q6600,4 gigs of ram,windows vista,8800 gts ,and xfi fatalty sound card and 1 tb of hd space

first thing that comes to mind in that situation is it is overheating...

The fan may be a symptom and not a cause of the problem. The fan comes on when the GPU heats up, which means it's working hard and drawing more power from the PSU. It may be the PSU shutting down when it's outputs are exceeded. How hefty is your power supply?
