I would say neither at this point. If you're looking for a good scanner to run periodically, then I would suggest MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM). It's much more effective against current threats than either of the other two programs.

Superantispyware and Spybot S & D are not for viruses anyway. Plus, no one program will have a database that will be able to detect all the Malware that can infect your computer.

I do like Spybot S & D because of its Immunizing feature, Shredder Tool and a few other nice features. Everyone has their favorites. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware is also only good for spyware, but you need to protect your computer against viruses, not just spyware.

Here are a few recommended, free programs (includes spyware and anti-virus programs, plus a very good firewall):

LavaSoft's AdAware 2008:

Spybot Search & Destroy:

Anti-Virus Programs -

AVG:

AVAST:

ClamWin:

RogueRemover Free 1.24 :

Windows® Defender:

ZoneAlarm Firewall:

All free!

Do not run or schedule scans of any program at the same or over lapping times. AVG is good to have set up to run at all times with a regular scan including incoming email. Even ClamWin has a good scheduler, but do not use both at the same time. This also goes for the spyware programs like AdAware, Spybot S & D and others. This is just to prevent conflicts.

Disclaimer
I am not a malware expert so this is only my opinion.
I like Spybot s&d over superantispyware.
However I followed the link that Sari posted and I ran a scan with malwarebytesantimalware.
The scan was fast, which is a plus for me, and seemed to work with no issues (My machine is not infected so I do not know how well it works).
Thank you Sari for this link.
