Hello:

With the Windows Data Migration tool, we are moving our users' data (one department a week) from our old file server to a new file server. Last week, we moved the Internal Audit folder and now we're having problems.

The internal auditor has a mapped drive, "X", to the Interal Audit folder on our 2003 File Server. When she tries to connect to the drive, an error message appears stating that "Access is Denied". If she tries to open the drive again, though, she is able to get in. Close it out and try again, though, and your access is denied again. There is no randomness involved that we can see so far. It REALLY seems to be that she can access the drive every other time she tries to connect.

We have checked the securities on the folder (thinking the data migration may not have worked properly), we've checked her securities, and event viewers for both systems. Now, we are stumped.

Any ideas?

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Magus

Why beat yourself on this? I would remove the share on the server and then recreated it.... making sure her group or ou has the correct permissions... it could be something as simple as that... also I'm not sure if your using logon scripts to map the drives or if you just manually setup the mapping... Are you using Windows SBS 2003 by any chance?
