laptop keeps turning off

I have an ASUS Z8100D laptop which keeps turning itself off. Sometimes it will run for 5 min sometimes half an hour. I am running Windows XP pro.
Today when it went off it wouldnt restart with aapplication was unsuccessful notice centre screen. After a ten minute rest it started!
