I just got thunderbird and it looks like it'll be great. But I don't know what to put as the outgoing and incoming server for hotmail and geekstogo mail. I tried mail.geekstogo.com for both the incoming and outgoing server for the gtg mail, but it didn't work. I tried mail.hotmail.com for hotmail, but it didn't work. I also need fastmail server name as well. Where do you get these? Could someone please tell me what they are? Thanks. <_<

edit: After much searching on the net, I found this address:

http://services.msn....il/httpmail.asp

When I try to use this as the server, TB says it is not a valid server name.

I've never tried Thunderbird, I have Outlook 2003 setup for many email acounts, spam filters, calendar, contacts, etc. So I'm pretty hesitant to install it. It appears to me the name servers you've chosen are correct. Is there an option similar to "outgoing server requires verification"? If so, check it.

I'll try and download Thunderbird to my test machine later and check it out.

Do I have the server names right? What options are marked wrong? There are options for (^=checked):

Server name [mail.hotmail.com ] Port: [995 ] Default: 995
User Name: [nathanhuth ]

Server Settings

[^] Use secure conncection (SSL)
[^] Use sevure authentication
[^] Check for new messages on startup
[^] Check for new messages every [10 ] minutes
[^] Automatically download new messages
[ ] Leave messages on server
[ ] For at most [7 ] days
[ ] Until I delete or move them from Inbox
[^] Empty Trash on Exit [Advanced...]

Advanced Settings Below:

[SMTP]

When sending messages from this identity,
always use the following outgoing server
(SMTP):

Server: smtp.hotmail.com:465

Thunderbird isn't going to work for me. I have too many email accounts, and I like them all to go the same inbox. Thunderbird doesn't support merged mailboxes yet. I also have Outlooks email filters setup just the way I like them, and I'd miss other features.

Ok, forget Firefox. What about outlook? How do you set it up for fastmail.fm? What add-ins do you suggest?

Thanks,
Nathan

You know what else you could do. Register nathanhuth.com (about $8/yr), and have [email protected] using your hosting account. You could also setup a blog, pictures, or whatever you wanted for a personal site.
