I left my computer on online one night via DSL and the next day all of my pictures from all my picture folders were gone. Only generic icons in the thumbnail view. Clicking on an icon resulted in a msg in the Picture Viewer of "No Preview" available. One of the icons in one of the folders was replaced by a crude [bleep] cartoon like sketch. Also extremely disturbing while all my Word docs were there they were all in a jumbled script that I can't decode. I was using XP that was updated and on automatic updates. Also McAfee, Webroot, Win Defender running. The computer was connected via a Lan cable to a modem/wireless router with WEP security? I went back to the earliest system restore and no change. Looked in Trash and Win Explorer with no luck. I have backup CD's but not current unfortunately. Since that time the computer does some strange things like not being able to temporarily get out of a program and click on the taskbar to get back to it but new pics and docs are stored and retieved OK.
I found this site (thankfully and hopefully there is some way to retrieve the pics and correct the docs) and have done all the pre steps- ATF, Malwarebytes,SUPERantispy, Panda all with no results. I will paste the HijackThis logs and wait for help. Thank you ! Sincerely Bill Ebs
