Hello gdlsolor and welcoem to G2G. Let's see what we can find. Please follow the steps below in order:

Before running a new scan let's clean out the temporary folders.

Download ATF Cleaner to your Desktop.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:
  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Close ALL Internet browsers (very important).
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Now download OTScanIt from here or here to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.

Note: You must be logged on to the system with an account that has Administrator privileges to run this program.

  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanIt folder and double-click on OTScanIt.exe to start the program (if you are running on Vista then right-click the program and choose Run as Administrator).
  • In the Drivers section click on Non-Microsoft.
  • Under Additional Scans click the checkboxes in front of the following items to select them:
    • Reg - BotCheck
      File - Additional Folder Scans
  • Do not change any other settings.
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
  • Save the file to your desktop or other location where you can find it back.
Use the Add Reply button and attach the file in your next post (do not try to copy/paste it into the post).

Cheers.

Hello OT,
thanks for your support.
Before pasting the information you requested I want to let you know that I did some research in the web to on how to interpret the hijackthis log.
I installed and run the ATF cleaner.
I Installed and run the Malwarebytes anti malware
I Installed and run the SUPERAntispyware
I tried to run the online Panda ActiveScan per this site suggestion. This really did not help and it loaded a virus in my computer whic was detedted by avas and AVG antivirus
After that I did some research and based on suggestions I found, I fixed all the lines in the hijackthis starting with 08 and 09. This enabled the program manager again
I installed a registry editor to be able to look for the save.exe file that I wanted to eliminate.
I eliminated a file named save.exe
While I was trying to eliminate the file save.exe I found in the regystry a file called ravmon.exe: I must have heard from this file somewhere because I found it suspicious when I saw it.
I looked for information about this file and found a site describing the effects of this virus which was pretty much the problems I had. So I deleted the entry from my regedit and run a tool to remove it that I found on this site http://fivepointsome...om-your-pc.html

It may be important to let you know too that I did not have installed any antivirus or anti malware program until about 5 weeks ago.
I also had a virus called "Win32:Agent-IRZ" by avast antivirus. It hid several folders I had so I used the attrib comand with the -H and -S options on C:\ to be able to see my folders again.

My computer seems to be free of problems now but I donīt know if there is something else I need to check.

I followed your instructions (exept for the ATF cleaner that I had run about 5 days ago)

Now, this may sound fool but I donīt know how to attach the file you requested. I looked for help in this site but I did not find out how to do it.

Thaks,
gdlsolor

Hi gdlsolor. Directly underneath the window when you are typing a reply are two buttons: Browse and UPLOAD. Use the Browse button to locate the file on the hard drive and teh UPLOAD button to upload it here.

Cheers.

Hi OT,
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong.
Below this window where I am typing there are only 2 buttons.
On the left lower corner is the button "Toggle Side Panel". If I click it, it appears a blank panel on the left with no information in it.
On the right lower corner is the button "BB Code Help".

Below this window there is another one with options to "enable emoticons" and "enable signature"
Next is another window where I can select "Post Icons"
The fourth and last section has 2 buttons. The buttons are "Add Replay" and "Preview Post"

There are no more buttons.
I apologize for giving extra work that is not needed.

Thanks,
gdlsolor.

Hi OT,
first of all I want to apologize for the slow response. I have had much work and have a hard time to spare time to answer.
I was having a hard time to upload the file because I use firefox and it does not show the browse and upload buttons. At least not the version of firefox I am using. I was able to see the buttons with IE

Atached is the requested file.

Thanks.

Hi gdlsolor. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. There are things that should be taken care of though

1 - Running Multiple Anti-Virus programs

It appears that there are multiple anti-virus applications running on this computer (Avast, AVG, McAfee). Running more than 1 anti-virus application at the same time can cause file access and resource issues and if there is an infection the multiple programs can actually block each other from dealing with the infected file(s). I highly recommend that you choose which application you want to keep and uninstall the other one(s) to prevent these problems.

2 - Update Java -

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
Note: If there is an Update XX in the name then the "XX" in the version will be whatever the latest version is.
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 Update XX (if present).
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_6_0_XX-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

After completing those tasks see let me know how things are running

Cheers.

Ho OT,

again I apologize for the slow response.
The only java version that I found available is the one below. The option "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications". is not available

Windows Offline Installation
jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe 15.24 MB

Do you think this is the right option to install ?

Thanks
gdlsolor.
