Ok I took Limewire off for like the 3rd time....kids. Anyways it is gone and will NOT be back on my computer. I also updated java. I ran the Atf cleaner as well.

I got a message about some Vista 2008 antivirus saying my computer was infected and I have never seen that before. I exited out of it but I googled and found that this could be a virus?
Here is the hijack this log and kapersky log.

Do you recommend something besides AVG? For some reason everytime I get home it is requiring a restart. I have it saved to run at a certain time but it is still showing an exclamation mark showing I am not protected. I go into the update manager and hit save to do the scheduled scan but for some reason it keeps saying it needs to restart. Unless I go in and hit save changes, and this happens even after I let it restart.
Thank you for all this help. I know I keep saying that but it is really great of you to keep helping me get my computer cleaned up.

The computer seems to be going ok. I have not seen the Vista 2008 spyware removal popup today, but I had my AVG running and it did not stop this. I realized that the superantispyware could be causing problems with the AVG 8 as it has both antivirus and antispyware components, so I am no longer getting the update everyday problem (I hope). It hasnt happened in the last 2 days at least.
I can go to paypal unlike before, so I believe whatever was blocking that and redirecting me has been fixed. So that was my original problem.
I got the shellhiddenicon end now again even after I believe DAFT saw it and removed it? I have no clue what that is though? I asked earlier but was not sure you knew what I meant. It only happens when I restart and it shuts it down. That shellhiddenicon is what is in the window of the end now box.

Do you recommend something besides AVG? For some reason everytime I get home it is requiring a restart. I have it saved to run at a certain time but it is still showing an exclamation mark showing I am not protected. I go into the update manager and hit save to do the scheduled scan but for some reason it keeps saying it needs to restart. Unless I go in and hit save changes, and this happens even after I let it restart.

Yup there are other Antvirus softwares we recommended aside from Avg.
I will post them later.

Yes, running 2 resident can cause system conflicts. Superantispyware will not cause problems with your resident AV/AS not unless you get the paid version. Since you have the free version installed, Resident shield is disabled.

I have not tried to copy and paste that line in search and run since we tried all that before. I will try that again and repost.

I uninstalled the antispyware and AVG. I reinstalled AVG and not antispyware and have not had a problem with all the restarts. So that has been fixed.

I have not seen anything pop up or redirect so I think we have resolved everything. Here is the latest hijack this log just in case you want to review it but things seem to be running smoothly.

Thank you for helping me through all this. I have learned a lot in my visits and realize that even when we think we are doing everything we can to stay protected even the slightest negligence can result in problems. I appreciate everything and will work hard to keep everything updated and running to avoid future problems. One thing I have yet to do is to look into other browsers as it is something many recommend to get away from Internet Explorer. Do you have one you prefer?

• Reboot your computer
• Run HiJackThis and post a new HiJackThis log for review.

Make sure you are using Internet Explorer for this. Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner and click Accept

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:

You now need to update your Java and remove your older versions.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

* Click Start > Control Panel.
* Click Add/Remove Programs.
* Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
* Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE), and install it to your computer from
here

• Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
• Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
• Click on the CleanUp! button
• A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
• If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to rech the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
• Click Yes to beging the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
• You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Now we need to create a new System Restore point.

Click Start Menu > Run > type (or copy and paste)

Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Next goto Start Menu > Run > type

Click OK, Disk Cleanup will open and start calculating the amount of space that can be freed, Once thats finished it will open the Disk Cleanup options screen, click the More Options tab then click Clean up on the system restore area and choose Yes at the confirmation window which will remove all the restore points except the one we just created.

* SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts. Make sure you are only running one real-time anti-spyware protection program or there will be a conflict.

Make Internet Explorer more secure

• Click Start > Run
• Type Inetcpl.cpl & click OK
• Click on the Security tab
• Click Reset all zones to default level
• Make sure the Internet Zone is selected & Click Custom level
• In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to "Prompt", and ("Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe") to "Disable".
• Next Click OK, then Apply button and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

* MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites and other bad sites. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer, meaning it will be difficult to infect yourself in the future.

* Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more
secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in pop up

I did everything you requested: updated acrobat, used the moveit application, java did not show anything that said runtime just that latest update you provided info on, created restore point, flushed previous restore points, changed security settings and the active x settings you listed... I went step by step so if I did not mention something it is only because I forgot to list it here.

I have the AVG 8 so I am guessing I cannot run the anti spyware programs you suggested as only one needs to be on to prevent conflicts. Am I correct?
The link that adds bad sites to registry only works if you use IE so I am thinking of DL Mozilla. I have had probs before and it is one thing I never switch to cause I have always use IE. BUT I think it is time for a change.
