I did a quick search and didn't see an obvious thread on this subject, and if this isn't the right place to start one, I apologize in advance... :)

If there IS a good thread, please feel free to point me to it!

Basically, my laptop was stolen this week... Right off the coffee table in my livingroom...

So I'm ordering a new one... What I'd like advice on is the latest in data protection and or theft recovery or prevention...

I'll do my best not to have the new one stolen off the coffee table, but how can I make it a worthless piece of junk to anyone but me if it IS stolen?

Thanks! I did see that article on my own, and it is good information... But it seems a little dated... 2001... I'm wondering now if there's anything more up to date?
