Hi Desirae :) almost done.

Disable Windows Defender
- Click start>programs>Windows Defender
- On the menu click "tools"
- click "options"
- Scroll down to "Real-Time Protection" options section
- Uncheck "Use Real-time protection (recommended)"
- Click "Save"

Disable Teatimer
- Please click "start" > select "run"
- Copy the following text and paste it in the run box:
taskkill /f /im teatimer.exe
- click ok

Re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lphcrdaj0etav] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcrdaj0etav.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sysrest32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows Adapter 5.1.3214] C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Application Data\dtlnq.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Uninstall Programs
Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following:
Idols Toolbar

Next, please download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):
    [kill explorer]
    C:\Program Files\Idols

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\iehlpr32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\blphcrdaj0etav.scr
    C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Application Data\dtlnq.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Application Data\AXPFixer
    C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Application Data\AXPDefender
    C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Application Data\shctdaj0etav
    C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\npkcusb
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\EagleNT
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\npkcrypt
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\\C:\Documents and Settings\Yvette\Local Settings\Temp\.ttD.tmp
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\\C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest32.exe
    [start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Next, a registry fix. Please follow the directions below:
Please open notepad
- Copy all the text in the codebox below into it.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system]
"NoDispBackgroundPage"=dword:00000000
"NoDispScrSavPage"=dword:00000000
- In notepad on the menu click "file"
- Select "save"

In the save window
- in the "save in" section select "desktop"
- in the "save as type" field select "all files"
- in the "file name" field type in: fix.reg

This will save the file to your desktop.

Next close *all windows* then double click the file on your desktop named fix.reg
- When it asks you if you are sure you want to add the information in the file to you registry click "Yes"
- The registry editor will tell you that the information was succesfully entered into the registry, click "Ok"

When you have done this, I need a new dss log
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
- Close all other windows before proceeding.
- Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
- If your anti-virus or firewall complains, please allow this script to run as it is not malicious.
- When the scan has finished, a notepad file will open named main.txt.
- Please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of Main.txt in your reply and let me know how your system is running :)

Everything seems to be running ok, when I restarted my computer and the blue screen that normally came up along with the yellow box that was usually set as my desktop backround wasn't there anymore...and there has been no sign of any roaches :) ....I do have 1 question :) , how can I prevent this from happening again...?

Hi Desirae

Great job :) Just some last things to do.

First, delete the fix.reg file from your desktop.

Next, we can remove tools we used.
- Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
- Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
- Click on the CleanUp! button
- A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
- If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
- Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
- You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Your java is outdated
- Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
- Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
- Click the "Download" button to the right.
- Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
- Click on Continue.
- Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
- Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
- Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
- Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
- Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore
This removes infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)

1. Turn off System Restore
- On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
- Click Properties.
- Click the System Restore tab.
- Check Turn off System Restore.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Restart your computer

3. Turn ON System Restore
- On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
- Click Properties.
- Click the System Restore tab.
- UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.

System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you do the following:
  • update and run a full scan weekly with your antivirus and Spybot.
  • you should also have a good firewall. Here are 2 free ones available for personal use: Zone Alarm and Comodo. Please choose one to use, download and install it. Once its installed you will start getting requests for programs and files to access the internet. Only allow programs that you recognize.
  • To keep your operating system up to date visit Microsoft Windows Update monthly.
  • To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klein: So how did I get infected in the first place?
Have a safe and happy computing day! :)
