XP Pro Reboots when AVG, Spybot, or adaware is run

Hi all,
I am struggling with my PC. If I run Spybot, AVG, or Adaware the system reboots. Sometimes these programs will run for a few minutes but at some point within the first five minutes the system reboots. I run disc check and what not and believe it to be a virus or spyware. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
