Hi, as stated i was playing Team Fortress 2 just now with internet explorer not open and when i exited the game there was a pop up on my desktop asking to veruify i was the owner of the pc by typing out some messed up symbols, so i immediately turned off my pc and rebooted. When i got back in, my comouter was sluggish and when i opened task manager there was a LONG string of 19418.exe listed in my task manager. There had to be at least 18 to 24 of these same listings. So i rebooted my pc again and it was still sluggish but now there are only two listings of 19418.exe. However i booted up hijackthis and now i have some weird entry in the BHO column along with 19418.exe which is rooted in document and settings but i do not see it at all, so obviously it is hidden.

I dont understand this, this is the third attack on my pc in two months and i have done nothing out of the ordinary. I only surf sites like HARDOCP, Somethingawful, CNN, ESPN, Neogaf, Amazon, Ebay, TMZ...and yet i am getting nailed with crazy malware/spyware/trojans all the sudden. I am using everything you guys have said i should in terms of protection for my pc and yet this keeps happening, i am at my wits end. If you can please help me try to solve this problem i would appreciate it, my Hijackthis log as follows:

Hello Solomon87

Welcome to G2Go. :)
=====================
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Hi kahdah, thanks for replying. Here is the maintext from DSS followed by the extra.txt By the way, something really crazy is going on. Until now, i have never had uTorrent installed on my pc. I have always had bittornado installed. Why would someone want to install uTorrent? Can i just delete it?

The detections in the Kaspersky log are all in quarantine folders and have been dealt with they will go with the next steps :

Please find and delete these files folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Virus+pop up fix programs\l2mfix
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Virus+pop up fix programs\SmitfraudFix
C:\Program Files\spyware tools\l2mfix
=============================
Cleanup::
  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
===============
Upgrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Delete\uninstall anything else that we have used.

System Restore
Then I will need you to reset your System Restore points.
The link below shows how to create a clean restore point.

=====================================
After that your log is clean. :)

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people.
You do not have to have all or any of them they are only suggestions.
This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

Spybot Search & Destroy-Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.

Spyware Blaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.

Spywareguard-Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.

IE-SPYAD- puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

Tony Klein article To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein.

Alright, i followed your instructions to the letter...even dowloading zonedout with IE-SPYAD which i was a bit concerned about but took the plunge hoping that this will stop this insanity for the most part. My computer is definitely running much smoother right now, thank you so much. I will donate to the cause here at geekstogo, you guys(and gals?) are great and have helped me out so much.
