My granddaughter has a Sony Vaio VGN-FJ270. The screen will only come on when it is open at 30 degrees or less. I'm thinking it is a bad cable connecting the screen to the mainboard, but I cannot figure out how to take the casing off. Maybe I'm wrong. Suggestions?

My employer's daughter had the same problem with her VIAO...we ended up taking it to a local shop because we could not figure how to oepn the case either. It was the cord connecting the MB to the monitor. Good luck.

Unfortunately Sony has decided that you must buy their service manual to see what it takes to disassemble the laptop to fix your problem. Just another reason to NOT buy their products.
