Yeah I want to try those bios settings, anything to solve this prob but when you say to get into bios on start up I have to hit some key or keys.
I know how to get into safe mode but somehow I don't think that's what you are talking about, can you clear this up for me peterm.
No warning lights or errors from my printer or computer, just freezes.

when you start your computer it will say on the very 1st screen
something like hit DEL to enter setup or hit F1 to enter setup
this is the same screen that tells you that the memory is being tested

ok time for something radical
1) can you go to printers> highlight the printer> right click go to properties>
print out a test page, scan the test page and either post it here or email it to me.
2) Don't delete the printer you have but start the printer setup wizard
when it gets to the part of pick a printer instead of picking your printer or clicking on have disc. select from the menu list You shoukd have a listing for
HP Laserjet III select this and finish the wizard. Does it print a readable test page?

Hi peterm,
Did as you suggested and downloaded the latest driver but sorry to say the same old crap happening. This time I was able to print out ten pages before my system froze, most annoying, have to use friends com to print my stuff.
Want to try Samm's suggestion later today, they are all reversable aren't they?

yes
But if you are not sure change nothing and ask
What happens if you plug your printer in to your friends computer
does it work or freeze up ?

Just a hunch try changing the data format from RAW
you do this in the printer propertities page

Hi peterm,
Think i have good news, keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
Didn't try changing the RAW Data but completly uninstalled and reinstalled the printer again but pluged it in to a higher USB port above my scanner and modem out of curiosity and up untill now it seems to work.
Don't know why but was able to print 15 pages without a system crash more than before,so what do you think.
I will keep you informed if any issues crop up,but would like to say a big thank you to yourself and Samm for taking the time and trouble to guide and help me and wish you all the best in life.
Keep up the sterling work and the same goes to the rest of the crew,

Will keep looking in,
