Hi,
I`m Mario. Recently I got several warning messages with Avast 4.8 that a rootkit was in my machine. I was Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk] and located in two folders:

1) file A0049647.exe in folder
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{D5341F9C-33F7-43CF-8BD2-1AE937C9BA1B}\RP591

2) file Cpqset.exe in folder
C:\Program files\HPQ\Default Settings

Avast also found one Trojan - Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}:

file A0049694.exe in folder
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{D5341F9C-33F7-43CF-8BD2-1AE937C9BA1B}\RP592

and when I started Panda, then Avast figured that the downloaded ActiveX was also a virus (Win32:CTX):

file pskavs.exe in folder
C:\Program files\Panda Security\Activescan 2.0

Those files are in the avast virus chest at the moment. I don`t know if I can delete them.

There was also an infected file somewhere in the Java folder, but I deleted it and also uninstalled Java for now.

I`m using Windows XP with SP2. The troubles began after I tried to download some torrents.

I did what you recommended in the forum "You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". Malwarebytes`Anti-amlaware program found two spyware, which I deleted.
The last scans with Superantispyware and Panda didn`t show any infected files, but just for precaution I´d like to send the HijackThis Log.

Hello again mario_s

1. Fix File Associations
------------------------------------------------

Please go to Start > Run and type or copy/paste the following in the run box (including the quotation marks):

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daft

Then click OK.

2. ComboFix
------------------------------------------------

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

In your next post

Hello again mario_s

Let me begin by greatly apologizing with the delay you have experience. You and 4 other people were left to fend for themselves when an emergency came up and I had to drop what I was doing for a week. When I returned all the people I had been helping seemed to have disappeared and I had assumed someone took care of you guys after I sent out a few PM's. Guess that wasn't the case.

If you still wish to continue on this log please reply.
