On the 3 problems that CWShredder found, when I hit exit it said it needed to reboot to take care of the problems...I rebooted but the scan still shows they are there, it never fixed them.
Here is a link to the CWShredder program and what it does. http://www.majorgeek...dder_d3019.html

Before I did the ESET Nod32 download it said I had to disable or remove other antispyware/malware etc...I deleted Spybot S&D, and a few others, then redownloaded them. Spybot S&D still has a folder it did not delete with 3 plug ins. I tried to reinstall the program, but it won't let me. I am just wondering if I can delete those plug ins without messing up my computer, then redownloading the program? I deleted the program from the add/remove programs...but it did not get it all.

The trend log looks ok.
What product did you use?

Smart Security is an all in package.
Other softwares installed on your system that has a similar purpose as they may conflict with the setup.
Firewall, antivrus, anitpyware, antispam. You can read about it here. http://www.eset.com/smartsecurity/

NOD32 antivirus is an antivirus so it would require you to remove any antivirus software still installed on your system. Dr. web for example needs to be removed. The idea is you need there should be multiple SIMILAR resident protection in your system as they cause problems with each other. Link: http://www.eset.com/products/nod32.php

Next,

You can use this to remove unwanted software, but be careful of what you uninstall.

Download Windows Installer Cleanup Utility then save it to your desktop.

  • Double-click on msicuu2.exe to install the Utility.
  • Just click on Next then Finish once done.

To Use:
Click on Start >> Programs >> Windows Install CleanUp

Let me know.

Trend log? Not sure which one you are referring to.
As far as Dr. Web and such...I did uninstall it, and several other programs as well.
I will be checking back in a few...

If you are speaking of the Trend HiJack This log...you are saying it looked okay?

I did not do the Smart Security package in the trial...just the antivirus program itself. I am still paying for the Zone Alarm Pro. I deleted Dr. Web for the time being. It was not detecting the malware etc... like I had hoped. I used Bit Defender before that, and it too missed stuff.

Well I will just check back either later on tonight, or tomorrow to see if there is anything else you wanted to add. I am about blind from doing scans and fooling around with this computer today anyway. :) I do appreciate all you have done thus far, and I know this has gone on longer than either of us anticipated.

Don;t sweat it.
All staff members here stick to their threads like glue. :)

The .exe file is in documents and settings still there...

What files again?
Could you try reinstalling msicuu2.exe again.
If still no go, we'll use a different tool.

I retried the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. The exe file was double clicked again. When I did it did an uninstall. I reinstalled it. It still didn't show up even though I tried to uninstall and reinstall it several times. I don't understand why it wasn't showing up in the start, programs box. Finally I just unistalled it and put the exe file in the recycle bin. (I did a search for the title and never found it either)

Hmmm, your computer is weird.
Let's try this tool instead.

Download CCleaner then Install.
  • Double click on CCleaner on your desktop.
  • Click on the Cleaner tab >> then select Analyze (wait for it to finish) >> then press Run Cleaner
  • Once complete, click on Tools >> Uninstall
  • Select program to remove then click on Uninstaller.
  • If that doesn't work, let me know.

Next,

click on Start, click on Run
copy and paste the following in bold in the open window and then click OK
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
This will open up DSS configuration
click on Check All then Uncheck All
Place a check on "File Associations" and "Event Logs"
click Scan
DSS will now run again when finished
Please post back both logs that open in notepad
