My son purchase a Dell Inspiron 1720 (Intel Core 2 2 Duo T5550 (1.83GHz, 667Mhz 2M L2 Cache) about 3 months ago and has constant internet problems. When he first got the laptop accessing the internet was no problem, then he couldn't access the internet and now he can get Internet Explorer to come up but can't search anything. I've been on the phone with Dell for hours at a time and they only provide a temporary fix. They had me uninstall virus protection and restore to a previous time amongst others things, please help.

Secondly, have you checked out the computer for malware? If not, follow the directions on this POST. If everything comes back fine, then we can troubleshoot this a little more.
