Good evening,

When I try to open IE it won't completely open. It starts to load, but then just sits there. Can not close it with the X in the corner must use the processes tab in Task Manager. I have run AD-Aware, Spy-bot, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Super-Anti Spyware, ATF Cleaner, and Vundo Fix. Also ran Panda online scanner, it found nothing. After restarting, computer runs real slow. The one thing I did notice before all this is that my home page on IE had changed to some Skype page. HijackThis log and Malwarebytes Anti Malware logs are posted below. As you can see, I am unable to use IE to access any web pages. I am running Vista on a Lenovo laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now,

please open Notepad by going to Start > Run and typing Notepad.exe in the window that pops up. Press enter and in the notepad window that appears Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+P) the following:

Note: it is important to copy this with the spacing left as it is, also make sure "REGEDIT4" is the first thing in Notepad (No spaces ahead or anything).

In Notepad click on the "File" menu > Save As... Under "File name" type Fix.reg and Change "Save as type" to All Files

Now double click Fix.reg. A pop-up will appear asking you if you want to import this to your registry click yes.

Then,

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
• Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
• Click on Continue.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

• Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
• It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
• When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
• Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
  • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
    Archives
    Mail databases
• Click on My Computer under Scan.
• Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
• You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
• Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.

Post back with the kaspersky scan and a new Hijack this log.

I can't seem to find a way to uninstall the NOD32 anti-virus. It does not show in the add/remove or in my programs list. I also was not sure what the first part of the last post meant. "This line should up in your log meaning you have a few unchecked:

Check under C:\Program Files and see if a folder called ESET is present, first off look for a file uninstall.exe, f present run it. Then delete the folder.

I see you have two registry cleaners installed, be careful with such programs as a corrupt registry will mean a reformat.

You also seem to have a proxy program, make sure that it is configured properly. If it's still no go - try posting in the web browser forums here at geekstogo.

Now please download OTCleanIt.

• Save it to your desktop.
• Double Click on OTCleanIt.exe, a window will appear.
• Please press the CleanUp! Button.

This will remove the tools we used during the process of cleaning your computer.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems.

In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

Thank you so much for your help, especially on a holiday. It seems to be working fine now. I found the ESET file, but have been unsuccessful in deleting it. I plan on deleting both registry cleaners, and also the proxy program. Thank you again.
