I'm trying to install SP3 to my WinXP Pro machine and it hangs every single time at "checking processes" or somthing like that.

I have googled this and there seems to be a very large problem with SP3.

I have an AMD processor, Asus A8n5x board, 1gb ram (2-512mb paired), Asus nvidia card

I'm currently running SP2 but can't update. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Any service pack is prone to issues, not just SP3. Some AMD setups have issues with it, a lot of AMD HP machines have issues.
Also ensure you have disabled any anti-virus packages.

Thank guys, I will try some of those ideas. I didn't disable antivirus but I did the firewall.
