should i reinstall xp?

not up until recently my laptop has been doing this i think it was after i did a update for adobe flash. since then this has popped up when i have tried to go on the newer versions of AIM an has made some websites look different, it also wouldn't let me restore my computer to a previous date. this is what it says when i try those things


The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\ATL.DLL is not a valid Windows image. please check this against your installation diskette



so should i reinstall XP? or should i do something else?
