I'm shopping around for an external hard drive, but I honestly don't know very much about them and was hoping for some opinions. My favorite so far has been the Acomdata PureDrive 750GB http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822216040

It has good reviews, but since there aren't many, so I wanted to be sure. Does anyone have any experience with acomdata drives? Are they reliable?

The others I'm considering are Western Digital My Book Essential http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822136175
and Seagate FreeAgent Desktop http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822148235

I'm basically looking for a 500 or 750 GB drive, preferably under $200. I don't have eSATA or Firewire ports, so that's not of great importance to me.

Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to G2G

I don't use any of these drives myself so I can't give you a specific recommendation but there is one piece of advice that I always follow - if in doubt, go with Seagate. I have always found seagate drives to be about the most reliable of all & they usually offer the longest warranty.

Hope that helps a bit
