My computer Shuts down automatically after a few minutes

my computer, is a windows xp my computer is a Dell Dimension 8400 . we had a lightning storm a few days ago but i took out the power cables(not including the router and modem) so i know that wasnt the problem. a day or so before that, i was watching a video and when i fullscreened it , the computer froze. it happened twice. now after we got the electricity back, i turned on the computer and it was fine everything was alright for the first 10 minutes or so. Then, it just suddenly turns of and the screen goes blank and the computer makes theses little beeps and keeps making them. I had similar problem a few months ago but my dads friend who fixed the problem, took out one of the 2 memory sticks so now i have 512mb of ram from 1 gb. that fixed the problem and he reinstalled windows xp so everything on there went away. he also put another fan just to keep the computer cool. i dont know what to do. i heard that there are programs so that you guys can look at the data of the computer. i think i might have time to get a save file and post it but i dont know how please direct me to the link so i might be able to try that .. if u think that might be a way to find out whats wrong. please help me. i cant really go to bestbuy or anything because i dont have the money and my dads not willing to pay. ok im not sure how to do this yet but surprizingly, my computer is running fine.. i have had it on for about 20-25 mins and it hasnt crashed yet ill let you know if anything happenes. anyways, like i said i dont know how to post the scan results and i didnt have time to read the guide but i basically copied and pasted everything i could find in a text file. so here you go:

Yaa the problem seems to be fixed. its been running ok for 2 days now. i gess the problem fixed it self up or something. but i still would like to know what was wrong in the first place.
