I have tried everything in your topic 2852 i.e. adware, Spybot etc and now have highjack log file I would appreciate the help as this constant popping up of Ads1.searchmiracle.com is so irritating. I have also changed the hosts file to eliminate it but it still pops up saying can't find page

Hi Pieter,
I have implemented your solution - I think I did get a couple of the pop ups after that but for the last about 30 mins I think so far so good - I hope that it is fixed and if so appreciate your help tremendously. If it is not fixed I will be back.
Many thanks

Hi Pieter,
I really appreciate your help. I ahve in fact looked at your site which is very good.
I am still getting some pop-ups - mainly ads1.searchmiracle.com. I have blocked it on the hosts file so it just pops up and says can't find page as the computer is the localhost.
This morning while checking email - I had 4 pop ups but for the last about 10 mins nothing - very weird and very irritating as I want to get rid of these pests.

Appreciate your help once again - if you need any info please let me know.
Many thanks

Hi Pieter,
Here is the latest log file - the problem is not as acute as it was - seems to give a few pop ups and then stops.
Many thanks
Linda

I think I found the problem.

1)Download and run:
http://www.downloads...org/KillBox.exe

2) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

3) Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

4) Select "Delete on Reboot".

5) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
C:\windows\system32\eliteart32.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

7) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot and run HijackThis again.
Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED103D9F-3070-4580-AB1E-E5C179C1AE41} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteart32.exe

Reboot once more and post a new log.

Hi Pieter - am following your appreciated reply - just not sure which file you are referring to in

Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

When you download KillBox - do you then reboot before running ?

Many many thx

No you don't have to reboot before using Killbox.

The files I am referring to are in the box labelled CODE

To run Killboot you can simply doubleclick Killbox.exe

Then select the two filenames in the CODE box
Then carry on from point 6)

If this wasn't helpfull please let me know at what point you stop understanding my instructions and I will try to be more clear.

It's in my post. I'll try a Quote box now:

C:\windows\system32\eliteart32.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe

Those are the filenames to put in the box. Please do it the way I described:
Normal copy & paste does not work.

Copy and click File in Killbox and choose "Paste from Clipboard"
