1) Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

2) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

3) Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

4) Select "Delete on Reboot".

5) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll
E:\WINDOWS\Config\odbcms.dll
E:\WINDOWS\System32\spoo1sv.exe

6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

7) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis (some lines may looks lightly different), close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {44240BB5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44} - E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll

O23 - Service: Network Connections Manager (Netmm) - Unknown owner - E:\WINDOWS\System32\spoo1sv.exe

Reboot once more and post back with a new HijackThis log.

Did you reboot after fixing the items in HijackThis?

Some of them came back.

First click Start > Run > services.msc > OK
In the list of services find:
Network Connections Manager (Netmm)
Rightclick that line and choose properties.
Stop the service and set the Startup Type to Disabled

Then reboot into safe mode and use Killbox to Replace on Reboot, put checkmark in "Use Dummy" :

E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll

After the reboot fix:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {44240BB5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44} - E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: mcdoc - E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll

Reboot once more and post a new log.

Close as many programs as possible.
Copy the part in bold below to notepad and save it as msevil.reg

Please download Process Explorer by Sysinternals from here:
http://www.sysintern...s/procexpnt.zip
Unzip the file and run the program by doubleclicking procexp.exe.
In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of mcdoc.dll once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of the mcdoc.dll's under winlogon click ok.

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of mcdoc.dll then click the kill button. Once you have done that click ok again.

Now doubleclick on msevil.reg and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

Now use Killbox again on
E:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\mcdoc.dll
E:\WINDOWS\System32\spoo1sv.exe

After the reboot post a new HijackThis log.

"Delete on Reboot" should do it.
Anything you can do in safe mode si welcome, because it usually works easier as there are less programs running and less files in use.

That is a clean log.
If your computer is behaving OK then now would be a good time to install SP2

Please do have a look at my site about removing and preventing spyware.
