Hi Guys,

I have been having so many probs over the last week with popups etc etc. eg loadingwebsite etc etc

I am running and removed all threats with the following programs

Adaware Away , Microsoft Antispyware, Ewido security 3, Ccleaner,Xoft spy, Ad aware, Spybot and Trend internet security 2005 - All programs are up to date and have cleaned all issus except Adaware away which shows the Notify DLL Hijacker still in the system

It advises to reboot in WRC which i have done and delete the following line - : Batch Deletedll.bat

This line will keep reapearing when the comp is rebooted and im still having probs with IE loading randomly

Hello Redghia and welcome to Geeks to Go.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix will require you to be in Safe Mode, which may not allow you to access the Internet, or my instructions!

You seem to have swept your PC with both good and not-so-good scanners, let’s see if I can clear this up.

To start please download the following programme, we will run it later. Please save it to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

CCleaner

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.11 google.co.uk
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.11 google.es
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.11 google.com.au
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.12 www.go.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.12 go.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.13 astalavista.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.13 www.astalavista.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.50.166.13 astalavista.box.sk
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {a19ef336-01d4-48e6-926a-fe7e1c747aed} - (no file)
O16 - DPF: {0F9B4CA4-A30F-480A-841D-69B45C50A8F8} - http://secure2.comne...iveSekurity.cab
O20 - Winlogon Notify: H323TSP - C:\WINDOWS\system32\adctres.dll
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Please now reboot into safe mode. Here's how:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap the F8 key. A menu should appear where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete this file (if present) using Windows Explorer:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\adctres.dll

Close Windows Explorer and Reboot normally.

Now we must hide the files we revealed earlier by reversing the process, this is an important safeguard to stop important system files being deleted by accident.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, update it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, Analyze, Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I will take another look.

Hello again Ashley

Not too much to do. Did you run Ewido between the dates of the two logs? Most bad entries have their files missing. I can check your uninstall list if you want me to; the instruction will be at the end of this post. Is there something happening in particular that you feel is being caused by an application on your PC? Anyway, here’s the fix based upon that log. Let me know how the PC is please.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O20 - Winlogon Notify: App Paths - C:\WINDOWS\system32\en68l1ju1.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\adctres.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Uninstall - C:\WINDOWS\system32\WSDRMdev.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: URL - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hpcoin.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Please now reboot.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and also an Uninstall Log:

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click Save List (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

and I will take another look.

Hi, Yes i have run ewido since i posted the original and the last posts, it found about 190 problems.

The comp used to randomly load websites at freewil without warning and alot of them. It was also full of trojans and viruses and had started to crash blue screen a bit

I am still running ewido and keeping the defonitions up to date and have no malware etc on the system at the moment that any programs can detect, So i think it is running quite well at the moment

Thanks for your help with this, let me know if you find any other probs in this logfile

Hello again Ashley

Thanks for the info., it explains quite a bit to me. Looking at your HJT log, I would make you aware of this site for you to check your version of TweakMaster, to ensure you have the problem-free version:

TweakMaster

Looking at your uninstall list, I notice you have XoftSpy lurking there. You may wish to do some research of your own on this product from which you can base your decision as to whether or not you want this in the future.

The other one I noticed was InterActual Player. Please read their Privacy Policy on their site. Here's the link:

InterActual

Other than those minor items, Congratulations! your new log is clean. :tazz: Just a little bit more to do to prevent further infection.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programmes changing them. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the Performance tab, click File System, or press ALT+F.
3. On the Troubleshooting tab, put a check mark in the 'Turn Off System Restore' check box.
4. Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 3, this time clearing the box beside 'Turn Off System Restore'

MOST IMPORTANT: You should update Windows and Internet Explorer to get all the Latest Security Patches to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the internet.

I recommend going to the following link and update as recommended by Microsoft. This adds more security and extra features including a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer. Microsoft Update

Now that everything is fixed, I suggest that you consider getting these programmes to help keep the computer clean:

SPYWARE BLASTER - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer.
AD-AWARE PERSONAL – A fine free malware detector and removal programme
SPYBOT S&D – Excellent free spyware detector and removal programme
GOOGLE TOOLBAR - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
FIREFOX - Safer alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
AVG ANTIVIRUS - Free antivirus programme if you currently are not using one.
ZONEALARM - Free firewall programme if you currently are not using one.

Remember to update these frequently.

Please note that whilst there is nothing wrong in having more than one spyware detector/prevention programmes, having two or more antivirus systems would be really bad as they may well interfere with each other.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep Windows and your Anti-Virus updated. ;)

Thanks for that , I have removed Interactual player and Xoftspy.

I am currently using firefox, ad aware, spybot, and trend internet security 2005 for firewall and virus scanning

I have tried Google toolbar, and spyware blaster but they are now both removed. Perhaps if i spend more time customizing spyware blaster i could get more used to it

I allways keep windows up to date and have just turned off system restore

Thanks for your help

Hello again Ashley

It sounds as though you have made some sensible choices there, however I would recommend that you turn on System Restore then navigate your way to SYSTEM RESTORE (START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE) and create a new restore point, perhaps calling it POST VIRUS. That way, at least you have a point to restore to should anything happen in the future.

Happy surfing!
