DirectX won't install

I am trying to install a game on my computer and it said I needed the latest DirectX download, and redirected me to this web page -


So I downloaded it and ran the installation. It was working just fine up until the VERY end where it said there was an error and could not be finished. I also downloaded and tried to work the version that didn't require internet access during the installation, but that provided the same error.

Here is the exact message it gave me:


And here are the error logs.


I am using Windows XP and according to DxDiag I have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904).
Any help is greatly appreciated!
