I am being redirected to random websites when trying to click on google links. The link's address usually changes a few times before the webpage loads but always starts with 'hrena' contained in the initial address. I ran Ad-Aware but it did not pick up anything, so I followed the instructions in the Malware removal forum and ran the ATF cleaner, did a System Restore, installed and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware quick scan and full scan, installed and ran SUPERAntiSpyware, ran Panda Activescan, and finally installed and ran HijackThis. I am now longer being redirected but suspect that my computer is not totally clean yet. The log files for each are listed below. Please Help!!!

Hi, nate80 :)

Welcome.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

F1 - win.ini: run=fntldr.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5F0CFD7E-79E6-BFD6-5C9C-1634576BFD3B} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\dlfnpkgd.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {699CBDC5-D722-8774-5386-EBA92ABEC962} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\hxyvbrmf.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {97F69AFE-5A8F-BD1C-1C9B-731AB79942A7} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\itxprdrs.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AAE0A905-B8CC-3647-4805-A819BE99DE19} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\yuqbnsos.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Close Hijackthis.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the entire contents of the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of it and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    [kill explorer]C:\WINDOWS\system32\itxprdrs.dllC:\WINDOWS\system32\fntldr.exeC:\WINDOWS\fntldr.exeEmptyTemp[start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light Yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Hi, nate80 :)

Please re-open HijackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O16 - DPF: {BDEE1959-AB6B-4745-A29B-F492861102CC} -

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Close Hijackthis.

The rest looks clear. How is the computer doing?

Ran Hijack this and fixed...O16 - DPF: {BDEE1959-AB6B-4745-A29B-F492861102CC} -

Also went back and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware...both came back clean!!!
Then I ran Panda Activescan and it found some more malware. Are any of these harmful? The log is below.

Hi, nate80 :)

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

InetDctr
CasProg

  • Copy the entire contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
  • Name the file as CFScript.txt
  • Change the Save as Type to All Files
  • and Save it on the desktop
File::c:\windows\stwsic:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.bhoc:\windows\downloaded program files\sporder_.dllc:\windows\system32\win.datc:\windows\system32\html.datc:\windows\system32\defaulttxt.datc:\windows\system32\uninstidctr.exeC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\xmltok.dllC:\WINDOWS\ppc.exeRegistry::[-hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\casprog][-hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\inetdctr]

Posted Image

Once saved, referring to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe, and post back the resulting report.

Re-scan and let me know the outcome. Files in the System Restore folder and in the C:\Qoobox folder will be removed shortly once everything else is taken care of. C:\Qoobox is Combofix Quarantine.

Hi, nate80 :)

Lets take care of the rest.

Download the enclosed folder. [attachment=21720:Regfix.zip]Save and extract its contents to the desktop. It is a folder containing a Registry Entries file, Regfix.reg . Once extracted, open the folder and double click on the Regfix.reg file and select Yes when prompted to merge it into the registry.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete this file/folder (if present):

c:\windows\stwsi

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programmes changing them. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK..

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
    Posted Image
Create a Restore point (If the above process fails to do so):
  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  • In the System Restore dialog box, click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
  • Type a description for your restore point, such as "After Cleanup", then click Create.

Restart and re-scan.

Let me know the outcome.

Hi, nate80. :)

Congratulations.Posted Image

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • ZonedOut + IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  • ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed.
  • Recovery Console - Recent trends appear to indicate that future infections will include attacks to the boot sector of the computer. The installation of the Recovery Console in the computer will be our only defense against this threat. For more information and steps to install the Recovery Console see This Article. Should you need assistance in installing the Recovery Console, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for all your help JSntgRvr. :)

Is it okay to uninstall Hijackthis, OTMoveIt2, etc.

Yes.

  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process, choose Yes.
