I had a previous topic on this but it got confusing so I am starting fresh. Is this a great set-up? It doesn't have to run Crysis on uber high settings but I would like to run games like that on at least a highish setting. I also want efficiency. If you feel like something is better than what I posted feel tell me about it.

I would change the memory to 1066 type memory simply because you can overclock the gigabyte MB.

You may also need a power supply that has a bit higher amp rating on the 12 volt lines. That 8800 video card will pull some amps.

Now don't get me wrong you definatly know way more than me when it comes to this but those parts you suggested seem to get low ratings and people don't seem to be too happy about their purchase.

For RAM, I suggest either one of these (depends on how much you're willing to spend now, before Mail-in-Rebate): Mushkin or Corsair. Mushkin has great customer support, I believe Corsair as well. I'd stay away from Crucial Ballistix because there has been quite a few compatibility issues and defective kits (more than ever).

There are some better power supplies out there from PC Power & Cooling, Corsair, Silverstone, etc. but you do pay quite a bit more for better build.

Ok I changed the PSU, it is now a 750w instead of 600. How does it look?

Ok I have that Corsair PSU up there. I also changed the DVD Burner. Is there anything else I should be considering changing? The biggest thing I'm worried about is compatibility. Is every one of these parts compatible with each other?

Everything looks great except I am not sure if the 8800GT is good enough for Crysis in high settings.
I've never played the game but heard that you can get at least a few high and a couple of med settings to get about 20-30fps (depending on the resolution).

Well I was just basing the build off of Crysis's demanding specs. As long it can do something like high and medium I am alright. I just want my other games such as Battlefield 2 to be able to run on high because playing Battlefield 2 on my current laptop is ok but it crashes sometimes.

So I am assuming I have everything I need in terms of the basics. Now what about internet? I have a wireless router, there is a desktop upstairs, my laptop is downstairs. What would I need in order to get this computer on the internet?

If you want to take advantage of the wireless capabilities of your router then you'll need a wireless adapter card (I'm assuming your desktop is the one that's going to need the wireless here) (either USB or PCI, I would suggest PCI though) however there's compatibilities that we need to take care of first. What standards does your router support? Does it support IEEE 802.11b/g or 802.11n?

Also there's always some wireless adapter cards that doesn't work perfectly (always losing connections) so if its possible, wired internet connection is the way to go.

Yeah the one that'll need wireless is going to be the one I'm going to build. The router is 802.11g. Believe me if I could get a wired connection I could but I definatly won't be able to.

Oh also I just notice, if you want to save some money, a corsair 650 watts should be sufficient with your build (since its looking like you're not going SLI or Crossfire route).
Another thing is that you have to make sure the wireless card you buy offers a 64-bit vista driver. This is one of the disadvantage of using vista 64-bit is not all manufacturers releases 64-bit compatible drivers. Search the driver first and then if they do have it then you're good.

SLI is for 2 nvidia cards hooked up together on the same motherboard and Crossfire is two ATI video cards hooked up together.
