Lew,

Open up HiJackThis and rescan your computer.

Place a check mark next to the following:

O23 - Service: Windows Management Construct (winmgmc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\winmgc.exe (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vobirr] c:\windows\system32\bxrcea.exe

Close all windows except HiJackThis and then click on Fix Checked.

Reboot in safe mode by restarting your computert and hitting F8 until a menu appears prompting you to go into safe mode.

Once in safe mode, please delete the following files, if they are present. it is best if you use Windows Explorer to delete these:

c:\windows\system32\bxrcea.exe

After that, Reboot.

Then post a new log and let me know what problems you are still seeing.

Lew,

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

System Startup Service (or SvcProc)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Run HiJackThis. Click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

SvcProc

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES.

We are going to do the same thing, except we will stop a different file:

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Windows Management Construct

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Run HiJackThis. Click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (copy and paste):

winmgmc

Click ok.

Please run Notepad and copy the following text into a new file:

@ECHO OFF
cd %windir%
Nail.exe /FULLREMOVE
sc config SvcProc start= disabled
sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc
attrib -s -r -h nail.exe
attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe
del nail.exe
del svcproc.exe
cd %windir%\system32
attrib -s -r -h DrPMon.dll
del DrPMon.dll
exit

Save the files to the desktop as remove.bat and make sure the "Save as type" field says "All files".

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on remove.bat. A window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Open HijackThis
Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES.

Next, please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Reboot your computer normally

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bhgtyr] c:\windows\system32\fvwhir.exe
O23 - Service: Windows Management Construct (winmgmc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\winmgc.exe (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):

c:\windows\system32\fvwhir.exe

After that, Reboot.

Then post a new HiJackThis log.
