Call of Duty 4 used to work, now it doesnt!
The only way I can play is plugging in my headset.
But that is a pain... Does anyone else have solutions?

I have bluetooth...
So go to start > control panel > recording
Now if you have bluetooth, there would be something called "Bluetooth SCO Audio".
Enable that, then Call of Duty 4 would play. But this is the case if you have bluetooth on your computer.
Now another way:
It does not matter if it is a bluetooth microphone (it doesnt need sound unless you want to talk in CoD4).
You can (again) go to start > control panel > recording and just choose your microphone as a default device, but it must be enabled and working.
I am sorry this is a bad explanation... I can help you more if you have more problems.
But I DEFINITELY AGREE activision screwed up this problem BIG-TIME.
They need to fix this.
And they give terrible support.

I am really upset at Infinity Ward for STILL not fixing this problem yet. They keep making patches, but still; not working.
The only way this will work if you go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording
Then select a microphone.

Lol , wrote a bunch of junk. The game work for me with only headset. The same thing happened to me all the times. Then I didn't know about this site. I solved it my way First problem was when I updated Nero 8.Next day the game didn't work.(multiplayer) Then I updated nero manually and it worked, somehow:) But I dont remember it now.... But now I had the same problem again.I have like 5 year old speakers and with the last reply hint I solved my problem aswell. I got a headset from last christmas and when i replaced it with the old speakers it worked!! Thanks for all the help! I hope Activision will work this problem out with the 1.8 patch.
