<_< My cursor moves all over the screen at any time. Often when I go to click on something it quickly moves and then I find I have clicked on something I did not want to get into. I do not have to have my hand on the mouse and it will move up or down, sideways etc. I have replaced the mouse and the problem still exists. It is not a USB mouse. Does anybody know what is going on?

Please run a free online virus scan here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Next, Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file following these instuctions. (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Finally, let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

HI Jessicat here again. Thank you for helping me. I have followed all the instructions and the cursor is still moving around. Please find the copy of what the diagnostic tool , HiJackThis, has given me. As you probably would expect, it is another language to me.

Thanks, hope i have followed all instructions correctly. Here goes.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please move Hijack This to a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Hi again. Thank you for persisting with this one. I followed last lot of instructions but was not able to click fix checked on the two last on the list starting with 017 as they were not on the scan. My cursor stayed still for a minute or two giving me false hope and then started moving around again. The new scan is below.

Almost done! <_< Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of osmim.dll. Reboot and post a fresh log.

Hi Geeks to go helpers. I have posted my last results but have heard nothing from you. Did I do something wrong? Do you need more information? I hope you don't think that I am being rude with this email. I am sure that you are busy trying to help others like me.

I hope that this cursor problem can be fixed. Do you think it can be? Is there anything else I can do? Thnks for your help and kindness so far. Whatever you have made me do has eliminated other problems I was having with my computer, eg scrip errors, slowness.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi. No it is not a mouse on a lap top. It is a mouse connected to the back of the hard drive of a pc. It is not a usb mouse or those new ones run with batteries. I am not real computer literate and don't quite know what you mean by[QUOTE]stick mouse in the beyboard?
I sits on my desk next to the keyboard. I have cleaned it. It is my second mouse that has this problem. It does not sit on a mouse pad, do you think this might be a problem.

Thanks

Is it an LED mouse (by LED does it have a light under it?) or a Ball mouse, because if it is an LED light it is normal for it move like that, all thats happed is that a small spec of dirt or hair has be caught under your mouse and it is causing the lght to diffract making your mouse crazy, if it is and LED or Ball mouse i would surgest a good cleaning with a polyester cloth and warm water with no soap!!! Also i just noticed that it doesn't sit on a mouse pad, make sure the surface is even and clean or get a mousepad.

Hi. thanks for your suggestions. I tried a mouse pad all day today and it was still doing it. It is also a ball mouse and a new one. It was doing it with the old ball mouse and now this one. I will try to give it a good clean and see what happens.
Thanks
