I read and followed all the instructions before posting here.

I had Webroot Spysweeper and Norton AntiVirus 2005 and ran both to no avail.

Per your instructions I downloaded and ran etc the following:
AdAware
Spyware Blaster
CWShredder
Spybot S&D

Still having major pop up issues. (Aurora) I think there are other things afoot as well.

Download ETRemover and unzip it. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key until menu shows up. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for System Startup Service (SvcProc) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Go to Start->Run and type in cmd and hit OK. Then type in the following (hit Enter after each line):

cd windows
nail.exe /FullRemove
exit

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and delete aurora

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Okey dokey. Printed and followed your instructions. A couple things of note:

Deleting Files:
Could not find C:\WINDOWS\WHCC-G~1.exe but did find C:\WINDOWS\whCC-GIANT.exe and deleted that.

On the list of files to delete you listed:
C:\WINDOWS\FTOCAT~1.exe TWICE, again I could not find that exact file, but did find C:\WINDOWS\ftocatvwv.exe and deleted that.
The reason I felt comforable doing that is because I had rebooted prior to contacting you after I had tried several other removal programs. I think you said that the files rename themselves, so it stood to reason that is what had happened. I hope I didn't royally screw myself trying to be "smart"

While deleting C:\windows\system32\elitebjs32.exe I noticed 5 other files beginning with "elite" I DID NOT delete them but thought I'd mention it here in case they are not supposed to be there, I wrote them all down if you need to see the full names, let me know.

Lastly, when I ran HijackThis in safemode to do the "Fix Checked" command, one file WAS NOT THERE (04 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\elitebjs32.exe) made sense that it wouldn't be since I had deleted it so I didn't stress about it and went ahead.

Yes, those are the correct files to delete. Some of the programs are listing the filenames in the old 8.3 dos filename convention. So the ~1 just means that it's the first file that begins with....whatever the first 6 letters are. So in your case, those two files are the first files that began with whatever six letters were before the ~1. So you deleted the correct files

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

For those other files that begin with elite, were they created around the same time you got infected here? Delete them if so - they are most likely bad files since this EliteBar infection will have various names starting with elite.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download FxWebsch and run it.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key until menu shows up. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
Go to Start->Run and type in cmd and hit OK. Then type in each of the following (hit Enter key after each line):

cd windows
nail.exe /FullRemove
exit

Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

FYI, when I rebooted in normal mode I got an error message saying that it couldn't find c:\windows\nail.exe, which is good, but apparently something is still trying to launch. Rat [bleep]s!

On the other hand...YOU ROCK!

Oh and the other 5 "elite" files got deleted when Norton found them during it's normal scan this evening, so that's good.

OK, let's see if these logs can show us any bad files:

Download and install CleanUp http://cleanup.stevengould.org/
Download KillBox http://www.atribune....ads/KillBox.exe
Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads....hp?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment posted in that second reply). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Run CleanUp program now and logoff.

REBOOT TO SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in safe mode!
Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes. Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt.

Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt

**Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t.

Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post.

Yes, close the browser before doing any of the fixes. Did you restart yet? Do not restart now. We will do everything in normal mode.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download FxWebsch and run it.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to the following:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and delete aurora

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and delete Bolger

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ and delete BolgerDll.BolgerDllObj

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ and delete {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\ and delete {BB0D5ADC-028D-4185-9288-722DDCE2C757}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\ and delete {92DAF5C1-2135-4E0C-B7A0-259ABFCD3904}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\ZepMon Driver and delete DrPMon.dll

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Go to Start->Run and type in cmd and hit OK. Then type in the following (hit Enter after each line):

nail.exe /FullRemove
exit

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

You should clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to C:\Windows\ or C:\WINNT\ and look for the Prefetch folder. Open it up and delete all the files in that folder.

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here along with a new FindIt log. Do not restart once you post the FindIt log.
