I cannot run most app. When I click "add/Remove Programs" nothing happens. I occassionally get this popup "your computer might be at risk, Auto updates are turned off. Click Balloon to fix." and sometimes "your firewall is turned off)
Avast did a boot scan because it could not move a file to the chest as it was "in use by another program" at the time. Avast found 4 infections and cleaned all but one(I think) The one was in Windows directory. Message came back that the "object name could not be found"
I installed the malware/trojan software, but I could only run the ATF Cleaner. Others would not open and Panda software would not allow me to register without coming back with a repeated "OOPS error".

Thanks for listening.

Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo.. Please do the following...

Please temporarily disable these programs prior to our fix.. Please re-enable them back after performing all steps given:

1. Avast! Antivirus
2. Lavasoft Ad-Aware
3, PC Tools Spyware Doctor

Please navigate HERE if you do not know how..

NEXT

Please visit below webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. DO NOT select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix (located in C:\combofix.txt) when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Please re-enable all security programs that have been disabled before.. Please post ComboFix log along with a fresh HijackThis log in your next reply.. Please post each log in separate post..

Regards

Here is my latest hijack log. BTW I managed to finally get Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to scan. Pandasoftware still will not load.

Don't worry about Panda.. It's good to hear your got your Malwarebytes' again.. Please run and update it..
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
If you are using Vista, you need to right-click at dss.exe icon and choose Run as Administrator

Here are the DSS logs
BTW my computer seems to be running fine with the exception that my screensaver is not working and my hidden files are showing. Maybe a result of the scans?

Thanks again for your help and prompt replies.

Much appreciated!

Please do the following....

Please go to Start >> Run and type or copy/paste the following in the run box: "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daft . Then press Enter
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • Select everything it is displaying there
  • Click the Fix button.
  • Then rescan with DAFT again - it should say now that "All associations are OK"
  • Close DAFT if you receive that message. This means that it is fixed now.

And then please post a fresh DSS log in your next reply... Also, tell me about your computer conditions

-------------------------

BTW my computer seems to be running fine with the exception that my screensaver is not working and my hidden files are showing. Maybe a result of the scans?

Not sure about your Screensaver... Can you manually set it again? About your hidden files, each time you run DSS, it will show your hidden files...

To "un"show your hidden files back, please do the following...

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
* Tick the Hide extensions for known file types
* Tick the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Hi

DAFT worked fine.

My computer seems to be running o.k. I am still getting 50-60 emails per 24 hours. They seem to be coming from some "bot" possibly and all have this in the subject "Notificacion de nueva discusion" with with a little mark over the last letter o in first and last words. Every email is some problem/virus that someone has and is looking to get help.

Your log looks clean to my eyes..

About your email.. It's spam.. I can do nothing about it.. Just delete all of them..

Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK
    Please note that the space between x and / is needed

Please Install/Update Sun Java

Let's clean your Restore Points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous Restore Points which are likely to be infected)
To create a new Restore Point.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK. This will flush your old System Restore.
  • Then please UNCHECK the Turn off System Restore.
  • Click again on Apply, and then click OK. This will create a new Restore Point
System Restore will now be active again

If you are using Windows Vista, please go HERE for tutorial on how to use, disable and enable System Restore

I noticed you already have:

1. Avast! Antivirus as your antivirus
2. Malwarebytes' as your antispyware

However, I haven't seen any third-party firewall in your logs.. Do you have any? If you don't, please install ONLY ONE of these free and excellent firewall below:
After you install the third party firewall, please disable your Windows firewall. Please go to My Computer >> Control Panel >> Windows Firewall and choose Off (not recommended) option. Then please click Apply and Ok.

Lastly, to keep your operating system up to date please visit the link below monthly

Hi

I am not certain how well my system is running.

I had saved your messages in Outlook, but they mysteriously disappeared. Not certain why.

Also Comodo is very particular about Avast and warns about everything it does.

Anything else I can scan or look at?

Thanks

Erm.. I don't know about Outlook.. You can seek further assistance on our Windows XP forum regarding the matter.. Link below:

About Comodo, you can just allow them..

Everytime Comodo pop-up appears about some programs that you know about them, just tick on Allow this request and Remember my answer options and click Ok

Tell me about it when you have done that..
