Hi
my name's Alan and I have a slight issue powering down when the PC is logged onto my wifes desktop at the end of her session when she logs off the desktop picture is still visible and the computer running no icons are visible and keyboard mouse functions have no effect it has to be powered down by holding in the power button for a few seconds, I dont have this problem when I power down from my desktop, has anyone any clues as to what is wrong

Not sure, but you might have some malicious software (spyware, or worm) on your machine. I had a worm, it usually made me impossible to shut down my computer properly, so this sounds familiar.

No spyware showing when I run AVG Anti-Spyware
and virus check is free aswell what should I do next?

there may be a chance the registry is not completely shutting down properly
this could be because of a program not closing
download a install UPHCLEAN.............
