Hello, I am hoping you can help me - I am only able to use my IE, because of Microsoft Antispyware, I downloaded yesterday - when I saw this problem (about:blank). I also have tried cleaning my system with Ad-adware SE, Spybot, AVG, and now MS Antispyware, but about:blank still keeps taking over. I also, after reading some of the other forums tried aboutbuster, but still get about:blank. My system restore is also off. Below is my Hijack Log I did in Safe Mode, just before contacting you. Please let me know what I need to do to remove this Trojan. Thanks, Emerald

P.S. (Be gentle :tazz: , I am trying to learn more about my system, I am not that computer literate, but I am learning, while trying to be careful in what I am doing. I really like your sight, you are teaching me alot and I know you have done well helping me and others, Thank you.) ;)

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key until menu shows up. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {389B86CC-6536-6C80-D4B0-66D25C675E70} - C:\WINNT\ipxh32.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [csrss] c:\program files\relytec\csrss.exe - this seems to be a keylogger of some kind, so unless you installed it (or if your company installed it), I would remove it
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IEXPLORE.EXE] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CSRSS] c:\program files\relytec\csrss.exe - this seems to be a keylogger of some kind, so unless you installed it (or if your company installed it), I would remove it
O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://www.popcap.co...aploader_v6.cab
O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\netju.exe (file missing)

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

c:\program files\relytec\ - only delete if you fixed it above
C:\WINNT\ipxh32.dll
C:\WINNT\netju.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.
