The boot up still takes for ever. After it is running it seems ok. I also lost all my user accounts, and can not access user accounts from control panel. I can access it through computer managment but the accounts do not show up. I am wondering if it is time to reinstall.

No, don't do that. Let me look at it and I will see if I can get some fresh eyes to see if I missed something.

Do you have a lot of photos/music/programs on there?

I had about 100 pictures on there, no music or games. I also copied all my pictures to cd and removed them last night and it didn't seem to make any difference. Thanks for all your help.

Reset your restore points again.

I want you to run the scan from panda and let it delete what it finds. I gave you the link earlier.

Copy and paste the results of that scan into this topic, along with a new hijack this file. :tazz:

The infections are getting bad. It just takes a long time. I will try to have someone look at it and see if they can suggest anything else before you get home tonight.

Hi TomNJ,

Coachwife asked me to take a look.
Your log looks clean but you had onekinfection that often leaves some hidden re-installer behind.

Download and run About:Buster http://www.majorgeek...wnload4289.html
It ususally takes two runs to get cleaned.
  • Prepare CWShredder:
    • Download CWShredder.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Do not run it yet. We will run it later.
  • Run Symantec's BackDoor Removal Tool:
    • Download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec.
    • Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.
    • Be sure to save the log file. I will need to see it later.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Run CWShredder. Be sure to click Fix as opposed to Scan Only. It should find some things and remove them.
  • Restart your computer once more.
  • Post a new HijackThis log and the log Symantec's tool gave you.
Hope this solves it,

Your log is clean now. That's a start. :tazz:

The worst problem now would be that some (or all) of your user accounts are gone?

Can you do a Find Files fir Userinit.exe ?
Let me know if and where you find it and the version number of the file.

Good.

Now click Start > Run > type or copy&paste regedit /e c:\usercheck.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon"

This will create c:\usercheck.txt
Please find it and post the content.
