this is the first time i have tried to use it on this computer but i have used it on others and it worked fine used it the other day and it worked fine on another computer

Do you still have it installed on a differemt system?

If the system came with XP Pro, then why did you use your friends copy of XP Home? Does your friend have that version installed on his system as well?
