Are you trying to do it through Windows Update? If you are, try downloading it separately and installing it manually. I've downloaded the entire service pack so I can just install it on computer that come in rather then downloading it every single time.

no, no message.....when it's ready to d/load it stays on 0%...it's still showing it on the taskbar.
yes, I did try using the windows update page. I tried today but the page comes up blank.
where can I download the sp3 seperately?
Thank You.

Hello rigs,
There is some problem with the download servers. These are completely in the hands of Microsoft and you will need to contact them to find out why it's not working.
Try these :
http://www.softpedia...nload_locations
http://www.soft32.co...4-123572-1.html

Hello rigs...
If there are Theme Packs like WindowBlinds or custom boot screens installed on the machine, the service pack will not download until you edit the boot.ini file. If there are nonWindows core files referenced there, SP3 will not download OR install without problems.
I just mention this in case your brother has such things installed.
