my friend has a laptop with XP Pro. She wants to wipe her laptop and start fresh. Just wondersing whats the best way. such as reformat drive and clean install xp or is there another way. Was also wondering whether its possible to re-use the same registration key as its the same laptop?

Use the CD, you can wipe it from there.
Use the licence that's already stuck on the case on that laptop only.
However if you have a product recovery CD/DVD that's even easier, otherwise you'd have to find the drivers for the bits inside it.
