I'm tring to install xp pro on my now dead, cleaned sony laptop. I believe it has to do with the sata drive but can't figure it out. Is there a way to install xp, please help.

Boot with the XP cd. During the install process there will be a point when you will have to hit F6 to install the sata drivers. Of course you need the sata drivers already before you start the process.

Hello dmzohr !

Download all drivers for Windows XP, especially the SATA driver for Windows XP
Install Windows XP with SATA driver F6 USB-Floppy
Install all drivers for Windows XP.

If you post the exact model of the notebook I can point you in the direction of the drivers you'll need to have windows recognize your hard drive on setup.
