I did not get all that I required in those which is wierd, can you confirm that you attached the entire zip folder ?

Please delete your current copy combofix and download a new version

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet. It is imperative that you install this as it will enable a system recovery in the event of problems

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Are you still getting the logon popups as I can see no reason for them. I will run a VBS now to see if that reveals anything

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

OK there is something screwy here

Are you still getting the popups ?

Download OTScanit to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  • Check the box that says Scan All User Accounts
  • Check the Radio buttons for Files/Folders Created Within 90 Days and Files/Folders Modified Within 90 Days
  • Under Additional Scans check the following:
    • Reg - Approved Shell Extensions
    • Reg - BotCheck
    • Reg - Desktop Components
    • Reg - Disabled MS Config Items
    • Reg - File Associations
    • File - Additional Folder Scans
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

To attach a file, do the following:
  • Click Add Reply
  • Under the reply panel is the Attachments Panel
  • Browse for the attachment file you want to upload, then click the green Upload button
  • Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
  • Click on Posted Image to insert the attachment into your post

On completion of this run your system should now be clean, I will be removing AVZ and combofix as well

Start OTScanit. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new Hijackthis log.

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Also let me know of any problems you encountered performing the steps above or any continuing problems you are still having with the computer.

Ok I have posted the two you asked for.
No Pop-ups have occured anymore.

Want to delete an operating system off this computer. On startup it shows
Windows XP Pro
Windows XP Pro Setup
System Recovery

I want to remove the Windows XP PRO Setup because when it reboots it trys to go to that operating system.

Another question: does it normally take long to load the internet explorer home page when you click on it?
I know that on my other computers the window loads quickly but on this one it takes awhile to load to the home page.

Last question: do I have too many programs loading at once at startup (login)? IF so how can I just start the ones that need to run at startup?

OK lets see how we go from here then

Go Start > Run and type in msconfig
On the boot tab there should be THREE elements

Windows XP Pro
Windows XP Pro Setup
System Recovery

They will have partitions etc after them
Select Windows XP Pro Setup confirm that, that is the one highlighted
Then select delete

Reboot

Then download and run Mike Lin's startup control panel http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

Right click and select disable for the following
C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpztsb04.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe"
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue\ControlPanel\VersionCueTray.exe
C:\Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\WatchDog.exe
C:\Program Files\twc\medicsp2\bin\sprtcmd.exe /P medicsp2
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
nwiz.exe /install
C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit
C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe
C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Professional 6\SMSystemAnalyzer.exe
C:\Program Files\iolo\Common\Task Agent\Task_Agent.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
F:\software\Pinnacle.studio.v11-MAGNiTUDE\LaunchList2.exe
