Hi All

Been a long time since I have needed your help but here we go again!!

As a good Dad I decided I would update all four computers at home from AVG7.5 to 8. Mine (which is linked to the router) was a breeze, my son's was too. My daughter's installed fine but then would not update properly saying it had lost the connectiont to the update server. My wife's will not even install, just coming back with '1 error' but then giving me the option to reboot etc.

So how can I fix these issues or should I just stay with 7.5 on these machines?

Three machines are running XP and my wife's is on Vista.

All AVG 7.5 installations will claim there's no connection to the update server because AVG 7.5 isn't updated any more therefore there is nothing to update.

Make sure you uninstall 7.5 and restart before installing 8.

Don't forget AVG Free is a free program and therefore update wise free users will be at the bottom of the priority lists for updating purposes. The remedy is to try again later :)

No it's the update you run when you first run version 8 - it's that that has no server connection not the 7.5.

Solved the other issue though, and loaded onto my wife's PC okay now (no idea what was done differently, a reboot perhaps), so 3/75 down 0.25 to go!

Restart the system before you update AVG. Worth a try.

I have now uninstalled AVG8 and then reinstalled it from a different download site and I noticed this was build 138 not 100 as before so had high hopes.

Loaded up with one warning (can't remember what it was) then rebooted and STILL THE SAME BLOODY PROBLEM!!!!!

The internet connection is fine, and all the other PCs and laptop work with AVG 8.

It is so frustrating, what with this the slow running of the same computer (perhaps linked although 7.5 didn't have a problem) and completely undoing my network to load Orange's LiveBox only to find it won't work with two of my PCs and having to start again with my network to find that my wife's laptop has lost its connection etc etc etc.

I HATE COMPUTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)
