I have run spybot and removed everything successfully. But there are programs that still launch and run contiuously. IE cannot be used to go to most any site because it is being hijacked by other ad software. I ran hijack this on it and the file follows. Thanks for helping with this.

Hi k8yse and welcome to Geeks to Go,
Please go to Add/Remove programs and remove the following,
VBouncer
Media Access
180solutions

Next

Please run through the steps outlined in this Topic
Post back a fresh log when done please

Your using an outdated version of HJT please download the current version, Remove the version you currently have now,

Will need a fresh HJT log and the following please,

Please download FindQoologic from Here.
Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here to this post please

Download the RKFiles.zip from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip

Create a new folder called c:\Antispyware\RKFiles
Extract the contents of RKFiles.zip into this new RKFiles folder.

Then,

C. Reboot into Safe Mode

D. Restart and press the F8 key a few times after the BIOS loads -- the first thing you see when the pc "comes alive" and does its "self test" -- before windows loads).

E. Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder

* Locate and double-click the RKFILES.BAT to run this tool.
* Sit back and wait untill its finished.
* When it is finaly finished a text file will open.
* Save the contents of that text file.

Note: It should save by default to C:\Log.txt
* Find this log, right-click and rename it RKFiles_log.txt so you can post it later.

It has been a struggle to run everything but I think I have done everything that you requested. The machine still boots very slow and IE launches by itself even if not connected to the internet. At bootup, an error message comes up that says svchost had encountered a problem and would close. bman and bman1.exe will launch by themselves and I have to close them in task manager. Here's the logs:

  • OK John,
This is going to take a bit of work but I m sure we can get it,

    First
  • Were you able to find Vbouncer in add/remove programs ?

  • couple infections here. lets hit them one at a time

  • Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:
    http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

  • Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts,
  • Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter.
  • This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.
  • Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Sorry for not mentioning that VBouncer and 180Solutions were not in the Add/Remove Programs List. I was able to uninstall Media Access. I'll work on the things you gave me to do. Thanks again for helping.

When I run l2mfix, option 1, I get an error msg
C:\Winnt\system32\cmd.exe
C:\Winnt\system32\autexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate application.

I selected Ignore twice and then got the following log file.

L2MFIX find log 1.03

Please let me know if I should be attaching the file rather than cutting and pasting here

I perfer that you copy and paste, But thank you for asking, Just so you know this will take a few pass's to get this,

Probably a good idea to print out these instructions, Or copy them to notepad so you have them available

  • Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

  • Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

    c:\winnt\system32\setgwzt.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\winupdt.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\nsvsvc\nsvsvc.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\picsvr\picsvr.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

  • Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check mark next to the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

    O2 - BHO: CExtension Object - {0019C3E2-DD48-4A6D-ABCD-8D32436323D9} - C:\WINNT\cfgmgr51.dll

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

  • Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

    c:\winnt\system32\setgwzt.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\winupdt.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\nsvsvc\nsvsvc.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
    C:\WINNT\cfgmgr51.dll
    C:\WINNT\Bolger.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\nsq3.dll
    C:\WINNT\System32\msmc.exe
    C:\PROGRA~1\VBouncer\VirtualBouncer.exe

    C:\WINNT\lkj.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\wupdinfo.exe
    perript.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\xifwts.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the services called:

    System Startup Service

    or

    SvcProc

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

    SvcProc
    Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

Wow, that was a lot of stuff. But I can tell that things are much better now.
Here's the details of what happened:

Processes Tab, step 1
c:\winnt\system32\setgwzt.exe (could not find that)
All others located and processes terminated.

HiJackthis, step 2
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hrtzckt] c:\winnt\system32\setgwzt.exe (not found)
All others located and fixed.

Windows Explorer in Safe Mode, step 3
c:\winnt\system32\setgwzt.exe (could not find)
C:\WINNT\cfgmgr51.dll (could not find)
C:\WINNT\system32\nsq3.dll (could not find)
C:\WINNT\System32\msmc.exe (could not find)
C:\PROGRA~1\VBouncer\VirtualBouncer.exe (could not find)
C:\WINNT\system32\kmnmak.exe (could not find)
C:\WINNT\system32\exp.exe (could not find)
C:\WINNT\system32\jcjodd2n.exe (not found but there was a config file by that name that I did not delete)
C:\WINNT\lkj.exe (could not find)
C:\WINNT\system32\xifwts.exe (could not find)
All others found anddeleted. I did have my settings set to view hidden and system files.

SvcProc, step 4
This was already stopped when the window opened up. Everything else
performed ok.

Normal Reboot.
Only error msg was that svchost.exe generated errors and will be closed by windows. (This error message has always been there and appears at every bootup since we started this thread). I clicked ok and the boot continues normally.

I can tell that the computer is running fairly well now. So far there are no unexpected launches of IE. You have made a world of difference. I hope we can keep this stuff from coming back. I really appreciate the time you are taking with me on this. It's hard to beleive that somone like yourself would do this kind of thing for others. Without this kind of help, the only alternative for me would have been to reload the operating system and start over. Thanks again.

Hi k8yse
Its looking better ! Still a bit more to go,
  • Go to add/Remove programs and remove

    ISTsvc

  • Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

  • Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check mark next to the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

    O2 - BHO: My Global Search Bar BHO - {37B85A21-692B-4205-9CAD-2626E4993404} - C:\Program Files\MyGlobalSearch\bar\1.bin\MGSBAR.DLL
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://awbeta.net-nucleus.com (HKLM)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

  • Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

    C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
    C:\Program Files\MyGlobalSearch\

All steps followed.

When computer rebooted we had the same error about svhost. Then a dos
window opened: C:\WINNT\system32\mroroxmx.exe
the error msg was
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:\WINNT\system32\mroroxmx.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\AUTEXECNT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the application. The option is close or ignore.

I chose Ignore and the machine booted to the active background.

Then two other windows MSDOS windows opened.

One was C:\WINNT\system32\kmnmak.exe the other was:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\iptp.exe

I chose "close" rather than ignore.

No more windows opened up.

Then ran qoologic and the same 16 bit msdos window opened up as before
with the C:\Winnt\system32\cmd.exe
C:\Winnt/system32\autoexec.nt
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the application. The option is close or ignore. I chose close.
Same window, same warning. I chose close again.
Same window, same warning. I chose close again.
Same window, same warning. I chose close again.
Same window, same warning. I chose close again.
I repeated this 10 times, same message.
Then I chose Ignore. On the 5th time, the notepad window opened
with the results:

When I was saving the notepad file, another msdos window opened:
c:\winnit\SvcProc.exe
I chose close and it went away.
