Hi there, and welcome! My name is Kat, and I'll be helping you to get your computer fixed up and on the run again! You may want to print these instructions or save them to a NotePad file on your desktop to make it easier for you to follow each step in order!

Before we tackle the infections on your machine, I need you to do something very important. It is not a good idea to run HijackThis from a "temp" location. Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please download the latest version of Ad-aware(Ad-aware SE 1.05) If you're using an older version (or don’t have AdAware yet), download Ad-aware SE Personal 1.05 and install it.

Before scanning with Ad-aware SE Free:
Run a FULL adaware scan using the following configuration below
  • Update
    • Select Check for updates.
    • Then Connect and download SE1R28 16.02.2005 .
  • Click Start
  • Select Perform Full System Scan and hit Next to let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
  • It will list malware files and registry keys. Click Next.
  • Under the Critical Objects tab, rightclick in the list, choose Select All, then Next.
  • It will ask for verification of checked items-. Choose OK.
  • Close Ad-Aware, Shut down and reboot your system.
Download and Install Spybot S&D, accepting the Default Settings
(Please ensure you have version 1.3 final.)
Home - The home of Spybot-S&D!: http://www.safer-networking.org/
Here is a nice Tutorial http://www.safer-net...p?page=tutorial
  • Go to Start > Programs >Spybot Search & Destroy and choose 'Spybot S&D'
  • Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
  • Click the button 'Search for Updates' and download and install the Updates.
  • Next click the button 'Check for Problems'
  • When Spybot is complete, it will be showing 'RED' entries BLACK entries and GREEN entries in the window
  • Make sure there is a check mark beside the RED entries ONLY.
  • Choose Fix Selected Problems and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.
  • REBOOT
You have several viruses and trojans. Please run the following online scans, and post the reports here in the next reply.

RAV online scan<<<Add a check by 'Autoclean', leave everything else as is.

http://www.ewido.net/en/
Let it do a full run, than copy the log

Post both logs here in a reply, along with a fresh HJT log you get for me after everything above has been done! we'll clean up the leftovers in the next step!!

First I would like to thank you for your help! I ran Ad-aware and cleared all of the listings. I then ran Spybot and cleared all but on (MBKW-Bar) it would not clear this one. I tried downloading RAV but it wouldn’t let me. Finally I downloaded ewido and I will list its findings below. FWIW I ran all of these programs yesterday along with the Microsoft anti-spy ware program. I updated them all and ran them in safe mode and normal mode. I also ran Norton antivirus 2005 with the latest definitions and none of that seems to have helped. Here are the logs you requested:

You still have several Trojans showing in your log. Let's try to get those knocked out before we go any further! Please download the free trial version of TrojanHunter here. After you install it, be sure to check for updates and then let it scan your system and remove everything it finds. If there is something that cannot be cleaned/fixed/removed/quarantined, please note the full file path (such as C:\.....) for me in your next reply. After you have done this, post a fresh HJT log here in a reply, and we'll go from there!
