Hi there all, I'm having a bit of a problem with my new Inspiron 1720.

I'm running Vista Home Premium, 32 bit system, Intel core duo, 2.50 GHz. The laptop is new, started using it about three weeks ago. At first it was very quite but now, it's making a subdued sort of buzz, can't remember when it started, it's constant however. I've been doing some research, downloaded RMClock, though I don't understand it so I haven't really activated it yet. Been running my scanner for any problems, am using Trend Micro PC-cillin, getting nothing. I'd very much like to get rid of the noise, preferably without having to wipe the laptop clean and starting from scratch.

Very grateful for any and all help.

ETA: Anyone?

Open the task manager and make sure there are no processes constantly utilizing the CPU (System Idle Process should be at or close to 99%.) If there isn't anything, there may be something physically wrong with the laptop, such as a bad fan or something getting stuck in the fan blade.
