Hello stokie.dan...

Please don't type in all caps. It's considered shouting and is hard for some of us to read.

Mcafee can be removed using their Consumer Product Removal Tool. There is more information on the process Here.

As your protection has expired and has not been an effective defense against malware, I'd bet your machine is infected, as well. You might want to go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions you'll find there. That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. Then post a HiJackThis log in that forum and have the experts there help you finish cleaning it up and get you some good free protection.

You've just got to love McAfee.... :)

Buying a new machine when the old one won't start is overkill in my opinion, but what the hey...I'll use any excuse to get myself new hardware.

Enjoy your new computer...I hope it brings you years of pleasant times! :)

Norton is nearly as bad. If you want premium protection, have a look at Eset Smart Security. It's about the best available... :)
