I have encountered malware before and have recieved great help from one of the staff working for this forum.
After my first encounter with removing malware and diagnosing my computer, I thought I could help my cousin fix his computer. I ran all the Preliminary scans and procedures and attempted to repeat what my previous helper taught me, however, it never occured to me that this computer could have had a completely different type of maleware attachted, untill recently when my cousin started telling me that his computer not only hasn't been fixed but has also gotten worse. I now need some help from the experts and I owe it to him to have his computer fixed. He has given me the computer back so that I could have another shot at looking at it, so here I am asking for some help because I did my best and it was not enough. The noticible problems is that this computer is very stubborn. I would say that it has very good anti-virus (Norton anti-virus) already but it seems that the maleware has found a way to over ride that. In addition to that problem, the proccess level has jumped to 50( even there are no programs runnings.) I checked the computer today and when I started the computer up, it suddenly lost it's wall paper, and when I choose to restore it, it does not allow me to. There is not a big problem with pop-ups and it just seems to have it process slowing down even though it is a custom built computer, Windows Xp, version 2002, sp 2, interl®, Pentium ®, 4 CPU, 3.00 GHz, 3.00GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM, which I would consider a very up to date computer. I would like some help in removing the maleware and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help. I will ofcourse give credit to whoever helps me, rather than say I did it myself.
