Hi Everyone,
I recently bought a second hand computer which has this message on the screen after switching it on.
'BOOTMNGR missing press CTRL ALT DEL to reboot'.

I have tried to reboot with a valid Win XP Pro disc in the cd/rw but still comes up with the same message.
By the way it is a Toshiba Equium A60 and I have a working spare one.
Any ideas on how I can fix this? ? ?


PS Also the pin in the charging slot has been broken - is this an easy fix??

Hello TheWern,

You do have the CD drive as the 1st boot device listed in the BIOS as you are trying to boot from the XP CD..right?

The BOOTMNGR message usually means a defective hard drive.

The broken charging pin is fixable but usually not by yourself as it requires taking the thing to pieces and some soldering.

Thanks Mirjel, I had wrong drive order (duh!) That sorted it out 100%.
