Hi,
Just like to say what a great job everyone at GTG are doing.

Not too long ago greyknight17 helped me to get my computer back on track.
For about a week things seemed to be going better but now the computer is running slow again.
Another problem that came about after his help is that I can no longer open itunes. The hour glass appears but disapears after 5 seconds.

I'm not sure if the problem is because of all the safety programs I have now installed after greyknight17's help.

When I run spybot I can see it scanning a file called virtumonde this is why I believe I might be infected, apologies for time wasting if I am not infected.

I have run all the recommended programs along with vundo and vundobegone but neither found nothing.

Look forward to hearing from someone.

Below is hijackthis log report.

Thanks

Ralf

I've just read my post and it sounds as if greyknight17 has caused the problems. This is not the case. Sorry. greyknight17 - you were a great help.

Hi, ralfcam :)

There is no evident malware in the log. Lets take a deeper look:

Posted ImageDownload Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from here or here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of both, the main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply.
If the files are too long, attach them to a reply:
  • Scroll down to[Manage Attachments]
  • Browse to the following folder:
    • C:\Deckard\System Scanner
  • Click Upload to upload these files one by one
  • Submit your reply

There is no sign of malware on these logs. Les perform a deeper scan:

Posted Image Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

It's just when I run spybot the program spends a long time on something called virtumonde. Like I said previously I wasn't sure if this was a virus or just searching for virtumonde.
I'm sorry if I have wasted your time.
All the same our computer has been running slow since greyknigtht17 asked us to install all the security programs.
I wasn't sure if we had another virus or it was the security programs causing our computer to run slow again.
Also do you have any idea why I can no longer access itunes? Is it maybe because of the security programs and if so is there a way to disable them and re-install?
I appreciate your time.
Regards

Ralf

Hi, ralfcam

Remove the following folder:

C:\VundoFix Backups

Security programs will always take some of your resources to be active, thus slowing down your computer.

Remove SUPERAntiSpyware. There is no much it can detect. Switch AVG8 for AVAST. AVG8 takes too much from your resources. If you need a firewall, try Comodo. It is also user friendly.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi there,

I've switched to Avast and Comodo as you said and removed the other two. Hopefully this will speed things up. I will let you know in a day or so.
Do you have any idea why I can no longer open my itunes? I've searched different forums but the only possible solution I've found is that it may be all the new security programs I am now running. Is there a way for me to disable these while I re-install or allow them to accept itunes?

Thanks

Thanks
Ralf

The only thing I see may interfere with Registry Modifications is TeaTimer.

Disable Teatimer
First:
  • Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol)
  • Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second:
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Click Mode, check Advanced Mode
  • Go To Left Panel, Click Tools, then also in left panel, click Resident
  • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
  • Uncheck the box labeled Resident Tea-Timer and OK any prompts.
  • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
  • Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
Don't forget to re-enable it, when you have finished the installation.
